Hello Spring; Goodbye Winter. :)

Spring

Howdy; Long time no speak, I see. I shall try to catch up. 🙂

Wow, “la joie du printemps”, “la gioia della primavera”, “bersis gaudia”, “la alegría de la primavera”, “the joy of spring”. No matter what language you put it in, the beauty of it still remains. Certainly puts a “spring” in your step. 😉

So, it’s been a long time since my last post. Not much as really been happening, Just kidding, let me fill you in. Since my last post I’ve: Gotten a new phone, Competed in eisteddfod for music (we got first in B-grade, and 3rd in A-grade), re-arranged my room twenty thousand times, got awarded a scholarship to University of Queensland (going to study medicine to be a doctor) 🙂 , Dance Marathon where we danced all night (literally), Made a Japanese buddy,  and well pretty much moved along in life. 🙂 Instead of boring you all to death with how each even went, I’ve decided to just post pictures, seeing as I’m too lazy to write. ^-^

Thank you music for being there when no one else was. ♥

Howdy; Long time no speak, I see. I shall try to catch up. 🙂

Firstly I’d just like to say; Thank you music for being there when no one else was. ❤ For those who didn’t know I’ve been going through a really rough patch in my life right now. For starters winter makes me depressed; I have no idea why It just does. Secondly, my little brother (9) has been depressed for ages ever since he got strangled at school by two fellow classmates, and it just sickens me that everyone has taken this so lightly. I f the boys were 7 years older, they could be changed with attempted manslaughter, but seeing as they are only 9 it’s apparently just “bullying” and not something to be taken too seriously? What is wrong with our generation? You’d think after 2010 years, humanity would at least be more weary towards violence than this? To add to this, I had a bit of a mental breakdown right before our State Championships Cheerleading competition… (long story short) I just found out that fellow older members of the squad and a few others had been talking about me behind my back saying how bad I was and that I never do anything right. Back to the plot; I’ve been having a hard time and if it weren’t for music…. *phew* Would I be screwed. so Merci. 🙂

Quite frankly, there has been a lot of other things going on in my life that I was going to blog about… I just couldn’t really bothered. >.< Oh and btw, Harristown Hawks Level 2 Open Cheerleading Squad are the World Cup Cheerleading State Champions. 😀 On another happy note, I get to spend a the first week of the holidays with my amazing Aunt and Uncle and cousin Lucian. ❤ Gotta love Lucian, he’s so playful and cheery, I’ve been thinking of composing a song for him in which I will call Lucian’s Lullaby (I just haven’t had the time/effort/inspiration). ❤

Little know interesting fact; the left side of your face always reflects your emotions. 😉

Hi, I’m Selina and I’m a doctor who addict. :)

Bon soir, home dogs. 😛

It would seem these days that here in Toowoomba, winter is approaching. For those who don’t know, I HATE winter. Therefore I tend to be a little pissy/angry/depressed/cranky/annoyed/stressed around this time of the year. :l I miss the long summer days where nothing beat laying out under the warm sunny skies, in which nothing seemed to bother me. 🙂 But thanks to winter…. *insert cranky face here*. In other news I’ve had a rather hectik week… lend me your ears to which I shall elaborate on this crazy, jam-packed week. 🙂

Fanfare: *Note: For those who don’t know, Fanfare is a Queensland regional music competition. Wow, quite frankly this didn’t really turn out the way I thought it would. :S I’m proud to announce that the Harristown SHS Concert Band did better than expected and we got a silver award. 8) Our second (and more advanced) band, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, didn’t do as well as expected. Our trumpets stuffed up by not coming in at the right times during Flight of the Griffin (our final piece) and in the end ruined the ending. 😦 But we got a Silver award so, I guess we deserve some credit… right? In the end it was a pretty alright experience and i’m just happy that I didn’t stuff up mine and Rachael’s flute solo/duet during the middle of the piece. *Sigh of relief* 🙂

Auscheer Regionals Competition: Even in all it’s glory, i was still rather disappointed with our result in this competition. 😦 So yeah, we might have gotten Second in our Pom routine and 3rd in our Level 2 Senior/Open Division Cheerleading routine, but really feel like we could have done better, WAY BETTER. For god’s sake it was regionals, and last year we were the STATE champions. :l For starters, we had two people drop out before the competition, so we had to make really last minute arrangements to make the routine look “normal”. Well, that didn’t turn out too well. People forgot their places, not everyone did all the tumbling (gymnastics) and some of us messed up our stunting (pyramids). I’ll admit, my tumbling group (Danita, Chloe, Izzy, Jo and myself) messed up. We missed our throw and well… we could have done better. By the time we got to our end pyramid, everyone was so close that my group (in the middle of the pyramid) didn’t have the time or space to do our lift. *Insert very cranky face here*. :l After the routine Laura fainted and then she was out for the Pom routine. Even though (in everyone but the judges opinion) we ACED our pom routine, we still got second. When we got the information regarding marks we “apparently” got 11 points deducted for “safety hazards”. WTF?!? Our routine was perfectly safe and seeing as our coach happens to be an amazing gymnastics and Cheerleading coach and knows all the rules/regulations, she knew there was nothing wrong with our routine. 8l

Well I guess I had better leave it there. As to finish on a good note:

“Vers tous les yeux de ceux qui cherchent, il faut le trouver et ils seront récompensés”

Translated: Towards all the eyes of those who seek, let them find and they shall be rewarded.

I hate winter but I love bubbles. :)

It's it amazing how cool bubbles look when about to bursting/burst?

Holler hommies. ^_^
In simple words I have had a rather intriguing week… no assignments due, a weekend down in Brisbane to see my family and very cold, annoying, cringe-worthy weather. Right now I’m on wordpress in class, I know what your thinging… R.E.B.E.L! Just kidding, I’m in geography and I’ve finished my assignment… come to thing about I’ve finished all my assignments. For now. Yippee 🙂

Winter: I would like to officially announce that I very strongly dislike winter. :/ The cold, wet, gloomy-ness that is winter. I HATE it. But then again, it just makes me appreciate the awesomeness of Summer. 🙂 I just spent the weekend in Brisbane and I loved it… the warm, carefree days, amongst the rush of inner city living. *sigh* But I guess that was yesterday’s news… Toowoomba being todays gloomy news. :/ I HATE Toowoomba. First of all; I hate that we are a city, BUT at the same time we are only a town. (If that makes any sense at all.) There’s nowhere to go/hang out… and being a teenager, that SUCKS. It’s like have a bowl with no food in it. :l We have a small shopping centre, but meh… it’s still boring. secondly; We live on the top of a mountain. The weather is horrendous! It’s cold, gloomy and a lot of the time foggy. …So over it. :l But it’s not all bad… Oh wait. It is. No beach, no good places to go shopping, only one movie theater and no good shows ever come to T-Bar. 😦

Nerd-i-ness and organisation: Well I just had math before this, and a friend of mine pointed out how much of a nerd I was. On our most recent assignment (a nation-wide math competition) I not only (being in the highest math class) scored the perfect score, I also got the highest mark. For Communication and Justification I got an a+, I got 12/12 for the questions and an overall A for prevention and marking. Woah. In class (today) we were doing direct and inverse proportion and after completing all the questions first I (un-intentionally) told my friend, “Gosh I fell like such a nerd”. :S Not only did I think like a nerd, talk like one, complete questions I am also your stereotypical nerd complete with glasses. :S Right now I feel mega-orginised, not only having finished all my assignments, but also because I have a have a mega calendar in my room marked with all my assignments, my daily routine, all my subjects; it’s basically my life on a calendar. Wow. My daily routine always follows the exact pattern… Wake up at 6:18 (Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays) and 6:09 (Wednesdays, Thursdays), wash face, get dressed, have either two pieces of toast with Vegemite or a bowl of Corn Flakes for breakfast, straighten hair (well fringe anyways), brush teeth following an exact pattern, make my lunch and fill up my huge 1.5L water bottle. (Of course my bag is packed from the night before so that’s out-of-the-way.) Bottom line: I am very organised.

Bubbles: Wow. It’s amazing how some of the most simple things in life can prove the most amazing. I was with my two-year-old cousin Lucian yesterday, and he LOVES bubbles. 🙂 He’ll just up and down and scream just so I will come outside with him and blow bubbles. So, come Saturday afternoon, we went outside and blew bubbles. The sun was setting and the sky was tinted a soothing shade of orange. 🙂 At first I just blew bubbles for the sake of it, until I started to watch them closely. As the bubble drifted slowly, a vast array of beautiful colours, more than I can describe, was slowly churning inside the bubble. It was just amazing to see… I wish I was a photographer and could capture the amazing-ness of these colours. 🙂 As the detergent of the bubble slowly deteriorated, the bubble faded away to nothing, as if it were a ghost bubble. Wow. It’s hard to describe, but I encourage all those who read this to try it one day and observe the complexity of a simple bubble. 🙂

So there we go, my life in a nutshell. Of course I’d continue to elaborate but class is almost over so,

Music Camp and World Cup Cheerleading :]

World Cup after we got second.

Displaying my Cheer Medals from Weekend wearing World Cup shirt. :

Holler! 🙂

So, I’ve had a pretty hectik week this week. Couple of assignments, hours upon hours of training, little sleep, but the thing I actually enjoy this week was the weekend. Not just becuase it was the weekend, but I actually had something on. 🙂 Most weekend I don’t do very much except sleep, eat, sleep and sometimes I’m awake; but this weekend was different. On the Friday and Saturaday I had Music Camp, and on the Sunday I had our first Cheerleading competition of the year. 🙂

MUSIC CAMP. What can I say? It was heaps fun. 🙂 Most people would think, “Oh yeah, spend all day playing music until the cows come home. Big whoop?”. But quite frankly it was far from it. Yes, we did play alot of Music, but we worked on technique and putting the final touches on all our pieces for Fanfare coming up in 3 weeks. 🙂 For those who don’t know, a quick runover of the pieces(note:I play flute); FOR THOSE WHO HAVE GONE BEFORE -> To me this is a bit of a “cowboy” song, it reminds me of a bit of the weastern era. But there are a few pretty flute bits in there, of course that is if you can hear them over the blasting trumpets. VOICES OF THE SKY -> I L-O-V-E this piece. When we first got it, we took one look and thought, “Oh yeah, this should be easy”. WRONG! This was (at first) extremely difficult due to the high use of the upper register, andante (slow) tempo, and the exsessive use of overlapping melodies. I’m not sure about other instruments but to flutes, this proved a challenge. After a while, we worked heaps on this and over all it sounds EXTREMELY pretty. In the middle section we have this amazing bassoon part and WOAH it sounds awesome. 🙂 FLIGHT OF THE GRIFFIN -> A rather difficult piece, with lots of strange/different time signitures such as 5/8 and 6/8, one after another. Crazy. :S In the middle at the andante lirico we have this really mad flute solo/duet with Myself and the first flute. Once put together it sounds really nice, but at the same time its really low. :/ Oh well, it’s nice to have a solo/duet for once. 🙂

On Friday night we had social activities. The highlight of the camp. 🙂 Good times, good times. 🙂 Scrambled eggs, which if you ask Chloe she’ss burst out laughing and say Spread your legs. Long story. 😛 Trivia with random questions like “How many teeth does an elephant have?”. Marshmellow eating contests, wheat-bix eating contest, tongues twisters and the Soda Water drinking relay. 🙂 I’m not going to go into too much detail, because this is going to be a rather long post but overall. It was heaps fun. 🙂

CHEERLEADING COMPETION. SE Regionals World Cup. Wow. Not only had we been spending eveey sapar minute we had training for this, we weren’t even ready. One of our members got kicked of the team, so we had to re-choreograph all of our routines to make them look normal which took countless hours of effort. :/ And then the injuries set in; Lauren kept fainting everytime we finished to routine, Frances sprained her ankle, Laura wasn’t able to compete because she had to get an ultrasound on her heart and wasn’t able to exercise, Emily was feeling mega sick, Cahlua (who had previously broke her collar bone and bruised her rib) was having difficulty breathing and Sarah got really dizzy and almost fainted two second before the competition. Right before wecompeted, we were told that we were live worldwide, which made heaps of people really nervous. But anyways we nailed the routines and got second place in both divisions. 🙂 After the routine Lauren fainted and that scared everyone, but she woke up so *phew*. On the way home we had a maccas stop (oh yeah). Surprisingly Cheerleaders eat ALOT, well I do anyway. 😛 On the way home Cahlua fainted on me and we had to make a sidestop at the Ipswich Hospital. I got home at around 1-2 in the morning then I fell aspleep until 11:30 the next day. 🙂 But we’ll have heaps more Cheer comps like this to come and I’m looking forward to them. 🙂

So as you can see, I’ve had a rather busy weekend. 🙂 But all the most enjoyable. 🙂

Music Is Everywhere ♫

Holler. :]

Just so you know, a lot of my post will be about things that I just randomly come up with in the middle of the night; as I stare up into the beautiful midnight sky. :] If anything in my posts doesn’t make sense to you, chances are in wont make any sense to me either; but that’s just who I am.

So as I stare into the night sky outside my window (I get a PRETTY sweet view from where I live), while listening to my iPod, I think to myself; why do I find it so natural to listen to music 24-7? Think about it… whether music is playing or not, I always have a song/tune/melody in my head. [Hear comes the wierd part.] So as I continue to look up at the sky, I just stare and stare, until soon enough; the stars seem to form a pattern. Now for those of you who do music know that when reading sheet music, you follow notes which are written on a treble/tenor/alto/bass clef. And soon enough the music that I could hear in my head, I was tracing out in the stars. [Told you it was wierd.] So then I thought to myself; music is EVERYWHERE.

There’s no avoiding it. The rhythm of a person’s heartbeat; the faint sound of blood rushing through your veins; the sound of birds singing away at 5am; the low bass pitch of a cow (I live in the country we have cows up the road) moo-ing; Music is only natural, and all it takes is a few moments for someone to take a step back and truly appreciate the beauty of music.

“Music is life.”

Now, for anyone that reads this, make a comment. Do you agree of disagree? Looking forward to hearing from you. :]
